Free AI visibility checker for local businesses

Why isn't your business showing up on ChatGPT? This free check reads your website the way AI search bots do and tells you what's stopping assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity from finding and naming you: a score out of 100, the top 5 fixes, and six real questions to test the assistants yourself.

Check your business

Takes about 20 seconds. We read up to 6 pages of your site, obey its robots.txt and store nothing but the result for 6 hours.

Fills in the test prompts below. It stays in your browser and is never sent.

Test it yourself: ask the AI assistants

The real test is what the assistants say. Copy each question below, paste it into ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, and tick whether your business was named. We don't ask any AI assistant for you, and we never see your answers or your ticks.

Tip: use a private or logged-out window if you can, so your own chat history doesn't sway the answers. Answers change from day to day and person to person, so treat this as a snapshot, not a ranking.

    Your tally: were you named?

One box per question and assistant: pick Yes if the answer named your business, No if it didn't.

AI Visibility Fix: we do the fixes for you

    US$149 / A$229 one-off

Short on time? We do the work on your site and listings:

    • LocalBusiness schema with sameAs links to your profiles, installed on your site
    • Your name, address and phone made to match across your site and schema
    • robots.txt opened to the AI search bots
    • A directory and review-site checklist for your trade and city
    • Two question-and-answer sections written for your site
    • A before-and-after report from this checker

We do the work; we can't promise ChatGPT or any other assistant will recommend you, because no one controls what they say. What we can do is make sure they can read you and find you described the same way everywhere.

How it works: what we check and why

When someone asks an assistant for "the best plumber in Norwood", it usually searches the web and sums up what it finds: your website, your Google Business Profile, directories, review sites and anything else that mentions you. We check the part you control on your own site, in six checks, and you tick the directories.

    Search bots: let them in

Search and answer bots fetch pages when someone asks a question, for example OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User (ChatGPT), PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User, Bingbot and Googlebot. If your robots.txt blocks them, the assistant can't read your site when it answers.

    Training bots: your choice

Training bots such as GPTBot, CCBot and ClaudeBot collect pages to train future AI models. Blocking them is a fair choice and costs you no points here; it doesn't stop the search bots reading your site. OpenAI explains the difference on its crawler page.

    The six checks

    1. AI crawlers can read your site: your robots.txt lets the search and answer bots read your home page.
    2. Business schema: Organization or LocalBusiness structured data with your name, address, phone, website and sameAs links to at least two real profiles (your Google Business Profile, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or directories), checked against Google's LocalBusiness guidelines.
    3. Name, address and phone match: the same details on your home page, contact page and schema. Mismatches make it harder to tell which business is which.
    4. Google Business Profile and reviews: a link to your profile or Maps listing, and reviews or a rating people can see on your site.
    5. Fresh, clear answers: a visible "updated" date that matches your page data, and headings that ask a customer's question with a short, direct answer under them. This one is a rule of thumb, not a known formula.
    6. llms.txt (optional): a short file that points AI tools at your key pages, per the llms.txt proposal. It's not a proven ranking factor, and we say so in your result.

We fetch at most 6 pages (home, robots.txt, llms.txt and up to 3 linked pages such as contact and about) with an honest user agent, and we obey your robots.txt. No AI is used to score you, and we don't look up directories, Google or any assistant on your behalf.

    Questions

Why isn't my business showing up on ChatGPT?

Usually because it can't find enough about you, or can't find it consistently. Common causes: your robots.txt blocks the bots that fetch pages for answers; your site has no business schema; your name, address or phone differ between your site, your Google Business Profile and directories; and few other sites mention you. Run the check above for your site, tick your listings, then ask the six test questions to see where you stand.

How do AI assistants pick which businesses to recommend?

None of them publish a formula. For "best plumber near me" questions they generally search the web and summarise what they find, so businesses that are described the same way across their own site, their Google Business Profile, directories and review sites are easier for them to name. Reviews and mentions on sites people trust seem to matter more than any single technical tweak.

    Is schema or llms.txt enough?

No. Schema helps assistants and search engines read your details correctly, and it's worth having, but on its own it rarely gets a business named. Owners who've tried it report that schema and llms.txt helped little, and that getting mentioned on directories and review sites helped more. That's why the score counts your listings, and why the top fixes often point off your site.

    Does llms.txt matter?

Not much, as far as anyone can show. llms.txt is a proposal for a plain-text guide to your site for AI tools, and none of the big assistants have said they use it to choose businesses. It's quick to add and does no harm, so we check for it, but it's worth the fewest points and we label it optional.

Should I block GPTBot and other AI bots?

That's up to you. GPTBot, CCBot and ClaudeBot collect pages to train AI models; blocking them costs you no points here. The bots that fetch pages to answer questions, such as OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot, Bingbot and Googlebot, are different: block those and the assistants can't read your site when someone asks about you.

How long do the fixes take to work?

There's no fixed timetable. Changes on your site can be picked up the next time the search bots read your pages, which is often days to a few weeks. Directory listings and reviews take longer to build up. Because answers vary from one ask to the next, ask the same six questions again about a month after your fixes and compare your tally.

What does the score out of 100 mean?

Up to 80 points come from the six checks on your site and up to 20 from the directories you tick. A high score means assistants can read your site and find you described consistently; it doesn't mean they'll name you, and a low score doesn't mean they never will. Use it to see what to fix first, and the test questions to see what the assistants actually say.

Do you ask ChatGPT about my business, or store what I type?

No. We never send your details to ChatGPT or any other AI. The check reads your website directly, and we keep the result for 6 hours so a repeat check is quick. "What you do", your directory ticks and your tally stay in your browser. If you ask for the report by email, we send your email address with the website, business name and suburb, only after you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe any time. We count, anonymously, that a check or a tally was done.
